Grady Gammage, Jr. is well known for his book, Phoenix in Perspective: Reflections on Developing the Desert and just recently published, The Future of the Suburban City: Lessons from Sustaining Phoenix. In his new book, Gammage offers a personal perspective on the explosive growth and development of Phoenix. In this talk, he will delve into the history of real estate, water, and urban and suburban development in the Valley of the Sun, with an emphasis on how water, air-conditioning, and the car have shaped the metropolis. Following the talk, there will be a book signing with books available for purchase.
